Rolex Sea Dweller Deepsea D Blue Box Papers 2017, 116660

The Sea-Dweller is Rolex's answer to those who liked the Submariner, but required a watch that could go deeper into the sea. It was launched in 1967 and offered triple the Submariner's water resistance by using a helium escape valve.

The 116660 was introduced to replace the venerable 16600, which had been in production between 1988 and 2008. Water resistant to 3,900m, it is unapologetically large and has a very substantial presence on the wrist. It introduced the Ring Lock system, as well as a ceramic bezel and a modern oyster bracelet with a glidelock clasp.
